Living My Best Life from Coast to Coast
Hello! Welcome to my life.
This is the space where my brain comes to life. Hi, my name is Janie Chiu, your typical Millennial or Gen Z in my 20s, finishing up my business undergrad, specializing in Marketing. Typical Asian in business, I know I'm feeding the Asian stereotype.
I am a Chinese born Canadian, or as many like to call, a CBC. My family and I moved to Canada when I was very young, so I pretty much consider Canada as my home more than the place I was actually born in. And I think many CBCs can relate to that because you grow accustomed to the culture and the people that you are most familiar with. I want to introduce you to this website, a.k.a, my work-in-progress baby.
This is me:
The Sneak Peak:
Fashion & Beauty Hobbyist
“Whenever you are creating beauty around you, you are restoring your own soul.” - Alice Walker
I am no expert in the fashion or beauty department, but I am extremely passionate about both industries and would love to share my personal favourites and advice on how I style my pieces, where I like to shop, what make-up works for different skin types and my inspirations. No secrets, just real honest opinions as I review pieces, styles, beauty products that either work or didn't work for me and why.
I do major research on what I want to share because I want the content to not only be real and honest, but also backed with real facts. Confidence holds different meanings for different people. Being able to dress and look a certain way gives me confidence. I hope to use this blog to learn and accept my flaws, be confident in my own skin and help others find their confidence too.
Life Struggles - how I cope
We all struggle in life at one point, whether we like to openly talk about it or not. There are days where I sit and sulk over my problems. I don't let myself fully release the pain because I undermine my feelings a lot by telling myself that others may be experiencing something worse. It is so important to declutter not only tangible things in your life, but also intangible things as well, your mind. Notice how I wrote, "how I cope." I am not going to preach a wonderful methodology or solution that people should follow, nor do I think I am in the position to do so.
Coping strategies, learning to deal with our feelings and our life struggles should NOT be a one-size-fits-all mentality. What I want to do is to talk about my experiences, my struggles, and hope that whoever stumbles upon this blog may be feeling the exact same way and have no idea how to deal with it. Well, I am here for you. We're all in this together, literally.
Eat, Explore and Repeat.
Eat to your heart's content and DON'T COUNT THE CALORIES!
I have the stomach of a bird but I will eat 10 meals everyday because I really love to snack. I love all things pretty, and food to me is beautiful. I hope to share my foodie adventures and passion for food photography and styling.
Life is too short to force yourself into a size 2, just eat the damn cake.

Travel & Explore
I love to travel. Growing up I had the privilege to travel a lot with my family. Although many memories are now quite faint because I was quite young, but being able to look back at all the videos and photos we took allows me to recount the happy times before we all grew up to live out our own lives. Ever since I left home for university, I have grown this obsession to explore everywhere and anywhere, which is why I chose to work and study abroad throughout my university degree. Therefore, I will be doing a travel memory dump and just talk about what I learned, some culture shocks I've experienced, and just memories of my recent travels.
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” – Thomas A. Edison
I love to write and I love photography. Am I particularly amazing in either? Definitely not. I am far from mastering these skills, but I hope to inspire my readers to think about finding their own passion and be motivated to become good at it. You can start anywhere, anytime, and when you find your rhythm and motivation, it will drive results. Don't fear failure, but fear the regret of not trying at all.
Thank you for reading this far. I hope you will continue to support my blogging journey.
